Study trips

On-the-job training

The CHPM organises study trips, excursions and historical field analyses, in Switzerland and abroad, in order to complement theoretical teaching with an immersive approach.

An immersive approach

As part of its military history courses, the Centre for Military History and Forward Planning (CHPM) offers themed study trips and excursions. The destinations are determined in connection with the topics covered in class or at the suggestion of members, particularly those participating in the training. These activities allow theoretical learning to be extended through direct field immersion.

Structured support

Journeys are organised under the direction of a manager appointed by the scientific director of the CHPM. They are subject to rigorous planning and, where necessary, prior site inspections.

Supervision is provided to ensure the smooth running of activities, respect for the places visited and the quality of the exchanges with the speakers.
